SAFETY FIRST
Erecting a storage tank using Hydraulic Jacking system is the safest way.  Most work is done at ground level reducing risks of accidents. There is not a single reported mishap in the last 20 years which goes to prove its credibility in being the safest and most preferred method for storage tank construction, discarding the need for a tall boom crane.
NO SCAFFOLDING REQUIRED
The jacking system dispenses with elaborate scaffolding requirements required to provide access for welding at heights, since now all welding is done at ground level.
EASIER INSPECTION
Welding inspectors can now conduct ultrasonic or other non-destructive tests on welds at ground level, facilitating ease of inspection and hence better quality control. No more climbing up to precarious positions for welding inspectors !
FASTER ERECTION
New shell plates are to be erected at ground level instead of being hauled up to about 30 feet heights or more saving precious construction time required for alignment of plates. All time required for lifting of men and material to heights is eliminated. Tank construction work is practically unaffected by rain or snow, since most work is done under the protection of the tank itself.
TANK ERECTION TOP DOWNWARDS CUTS CONSTRUCTION TIME AND COST CONSIDERABLY :
Most work is done at ground level thus permitting faster erection times and reducing the risk of accidents

Cost of the jacking equipment can be recovered after constructing 3 to 4 storage tanks or by erecting about 1200 tons of tankage. Jacking cost is around USD 50 per ton for 1200 tons. Example : Tank of 30 m diameter weighing about 300 tons needs 30 jacks of 12 ton each. Full cost of jacking equipment is recovered in 4 such tanks.

Versatility :
The jacking equipment is supplied with singe jack lifting capacities of
8 tons
12 tons
25 tons.
The standard jacking equipment can be used for minimum shell plate width (height) of 1400 mm and maximum of 2500 mm.
For shell plates of more than 2500 width (height), jacking equipment can be supplied against specific requirements.
Storage tanks with different types of roof (floating roof, fixed roof, suspended deck roof, column supported roof)
Gasholder tanks
Horton spheres or spherical tanks for storage of propane, ammonia in gaseous form
Cryogenic tanks for storage of propane, ammonia at cryogenic temperatures
Smallest diameter of tank erected using jacking equipment : 6 mtrs*
Largest diameter of tank erected using jacking equipment   : 92 mtrs*
Maximum weight of tank erected using jacking equipment   : 1900 tons* (*) These are the minimum and maximum dimensions or parameters of some tanks that have actually been erected, however, these are not limiting figures.

Dismantling of old tanks
