Strand jacks
Bygging manufactures single-strand and multi-strand hydraulic jacks designed for the controlled lifting and lowering of heavy industrial loads. With lifting capacities of up to 185 tonnes per jack, our strand jacking systems are suitable for a wide range of heavy-lifting applications, including bridge girders, boiler drums, generator stators, process vessels, and other structures weighing hundreds of tonnes.
Strand jacking provides a compact and scalable lifting solution, particularly where conventional hydraulic cylinders or cranes may not be practical due to space constraints or lifting requirements.
How Strand Jacks Work
Hydraulic strand jacks operate using high-tensile steel strands. Through successive gripping and hydraulic lifting cycles, the load is raised or lowered in controlled increments.
Our multi-strand jacks feature an integrated wedge-locking and unlocking mechanism for secure load handling. Multiple jacks can also be operated simultaneously using PLC-based control systems, enabling synchronised lifting and lowering of large structures across multiple lifting points.
Typical Applications
Bygging strand jacks are suitable for a wide range of heavy-lifting applications, including:
- Erection of steel flues inside tall chimneys
- Lifting of horizontal storage tanks
- Lifting and positioning of process vessels
- De-aerator lifting
- Boiler drum lifting
- Lifting of bridge girders and generator stators
- Lifting and positioning of other heavy structures requiring multiple synchronised lifting points
